You can also call the shop 973-377-5648 (KNIT) with payment or come in :) If you have a problem signing up please email us at info@thebluepurl.com with your phone number and we will assist you, or put you on the waitlist. We are keeping the same phone number but best to email.

This approachable sweater is worked in DK weight yarn in the round, with no seams or assembly required. You will knit a gauge swatch and then learn the basic construction techniques of making a top-down pullover including German short rows, picking up sleeves and knitting seamlessly throughout. This is a perfect introduction to seamless sweater making!
Techniques include: making a gauge swatch, German short rows, increasing/decreasing, knitting small circumference tubes on 2 circular needles

You’ve seen all those beautiful stranded colorwork sweaters but you’re afraid to try it. The Bellwether Sweater is your gateway to learning and practicing stranded colorwork knitting. This is a new pattern by Caitlin Hunter and is planned to be released by September 2026. The pattern calls for short sleeves, with a puffy sleeve fit with additional colorwork on the sleeve or an alternative traditional cap sleeve fit, if desired.
Tam is a preview knitter for this pattern and feels the chart is great for first time stranded colorwork knitters. You’ll learn to use both English and Continental knitting at the same time to achieve color dominance with your contrast yarn.
We can also try duplicate stitching as seen in Tam’s version with a BFL sheep.
After this class, you’ll be fearless colorwork knitter!
Skills Required: Knit, Purl, Cast on, Bind off, Knitting in large and small rounds, comfortable with reading basic charts, fixing your own basic mistakes. Please note- this should not be your first sweater in the round.

A beautiful lace cardigan to elevate any outfit. Tam will take you step by step through working lace charts. You’ll learn to build and shape a sweater while maintaining the lace pattern, work German Short rows, create buttonholes and a buttonband while in pattern.
Skills Required before taking class: Knit, Purl, Cast on, Bind off, Knitting flat & in small rounds, comfortable with reading basic charts, picking up stitches, fixing your own basic mistakes. Please note- this should not be your first sweater.

This is a 4-week class during which you will learn the fundamentals of knitting – knit, purl, casting on and binding off. You’ll learn the basics while practicing the different techniques and then you’ll make a super cute, super bulky hat that will teach how to knit in the round and incorporate a simple decorative stich pattern. We’ll finish off this quick knit with a pompom! Come and join us and begin your knitting adventure!

Whether you're an avid knitter who has never picked up a crochet hook (except for dropped stitches) or never worked with yarn at all, this is a perfect class! In these sessions you'll learn the basics of crochet while creating a scarf.

This blanket is a fun, interesting and rewarding project. The pattern for the class is found in the booklet called Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter (available in the shop.) It includes the patterns for 12 blocks, each made with a different stitch pattern, which will then be sewn together to make a blanket. In this first session of the class we will make 6 blocks, and in the next 6-class session, we will make the final 6 blocks. The stitch patterns will give you a great introduction to many different skills, which you can then put to good use in future projects!
Techniques include: simple chart reading, cables, simple lace, increases, decreases, bobbles and more!

Back by popular demand, this stocking has become a Blue Purl classic! The pattern is called NL3 Christmas Sock and can be purchased on Ravelry. This project is packed with many techniques to learn while making this adorable stocking. This will become a family heirloom – you’ll want to make more than one!

These little socks are quick and easy roll-top ankle socks. They are knitted from the top down, with a traditional heel flap and heel turn and three size options. It’s a great pattern for a beginner sock knitter, and a fun quick knit for more advanced sock knitters. This sock is perfect for super bright, variegated yarns, they add a fun pop of color to any outfit!

These little wrist warmers could be your introduction to fair isle color work and will work up quickly in worsted weight yarn. You will learn how to knit small circumference tubeson 2 circular needles, how to read a chart and how to work with 2 colors at a time. Pick 4 colors that you like and be ready for cool Autumn days! Note – we’ll alter the pattern slightly by adding narrow ribbing at the bottom and top to keep them snug and cozy around your hands.

This adorable blanket is created by knitting mitred squares, which are square garter stitch blocks with a central diagonal decrease. The squares are knitted (no purling) individually but are attached as you make the blanket, so there is no seaming at the end (yay!). The blanket is actually “built” as you go so you’ll be learning how to pick up stitches as you create this darling blanket for a lucky baby!
Techniques include: garter stitch, double decrease, picking up stitches
