NEW** EMBROIDER ON KNITS WORKSHOP
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Workshop Date: June 24
Class Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Skill Level: NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Cost: $80
Instructor: Carolyn Hanson
The designer touch is all about embellishments. Making unique pieces is already what we do as knitters. Now, learn to take your project to the next level by adding detail beyond the written pattern. Express yourself.
Join us as we learn to add a small embroidery motif to either a knitted piece, e.g., scarf, blanket, mitten, or to a large gauge swatch. The focus of the three hour session is preparing your garment/swatch, choosing embroidery materials, using water soluble fabric for design transfer, learning various stitches - lazy daisy, split stitch, straight stitch, french knot, and duplicate stitching.
This is a techniques class for all, not just knitters.
Homework: Bring either a simple knitted scarf, blanket, or fabric that is at least 12” x 12” in size. It can be a ready-made item.
Bring the following supplies:
Embroidery needles (blunt tip with eye large enough for fingering yarn)
Scrap fingering yarn, embroidery floss
Scissors
Straight pins
Permanent Marker (Fine point, for tracing design on water soluble fabric)
Random Button with 4 holes (3/8” - 1/2”)
OPTIONAL:
Bring your own design to trace; no larger than 5” x 5”
Adjustable Bamboo Embroidery Hoop
Note: Water soluble fabric and design will be supplied
