LEARN TO KNIT

4 sessions :)

For very beginners move through the 3 step sequence. If you know how to cast on, knit and purl jump in where appropriate :)

This is a 4-week class during which you will learn the basics of knitting – knit, purl, casting on and binding off. You’ll make 2 projects – a simple scarf and a super bulky hat. In this class you’ll learn how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and follow a simple pattern.

First, you’ll start the scarf on chunky yarn so your stitches will be easy to see and the item will knit up quickly. We’ll also be teaching how to unknit, weave in ends and join new yarn in the middle of your project.

The second project you’ll work on is a super bulky hat that will teach how to knit in the round and incorporate a simple decorative stich pattern. We’ll finish off this quick knit with a pompom!

CONTINENTAL COMBINATION
WORKSHOP

By popular demand, Continental Knitting is back. Let’s get ready for speed!

Level: Advanced Beginner - Must be comfortable knitting, purling and casting on
Class Date: 1 Evening Workshop March 5
Class Time: 5:15-7:15 PM
Cost: $35
Teacher: Carolyn Hanson

Calling all throwers! Have you always wanted to learn how to knit continental? Have you ever wanted to increase your knitting speed? Continental Combination is the fastest means of knitting. Your hands never leave the needles.

This technique “picks” the stitches instead of wrapping the yarn around the needle. Believe it or not, purling is easier than knitting. The key to knitting Continental Combination is knitting off of the “leading edge” no matter where it’s presented, either off the front or back of the needle. Never untwist a stitch again. This technique will change how you knit forever! The resulting fabric presents even tension, and with less wear and tear on joints. You will be amazed.

Please bring:
- Smooth yarn in a light color
- Appropriate needles to match you yarn weight. Cable or straight needles.
- Paper and pen for note taking

HOMEWORK:
Please cast on 20 sts using any method.
